PRÉCIS OF UNIVERSAL SPIRITUALITY
Yogi Pārthasārathy Aiyangār (1900)
The Catholics shut heaven against all
Who follow not the Pope.
Most Protestants say – “None who isn’t
Of Christ, for heaven need hope”.
Some others send to hell, all who
their Prophet do not own.
The man of God opens heaven to all
Who do not God disown.
His doctrine is :- “In God we live
And move and have our being.
Grown ripe by God’s free grace, gains heaven,
In time each living thing, –
To lead, in blessedness which hath no bounds,
A God-communing life that never ends.
The name – Nārāyaṇ’s* hence to God is given,
By saints Inspired, who foretaste bliss of heaven,
Seeing the Divinity that ever shapes our (a) course and (b) our aim,
However much we free will feel in us and credit claim.
As life is short and art is long,
Let’s choose the best all truths among“.
*Nārāyaṇa = the Eternal Lord of Bliss, —in Whom all the nārāḥ or eternal hosts of psychical [i.e., spirit souls] and material entities ever live, move and have their being, and who, consequently, is designated their Ayana or Sustainer, Mover and Final Goal (according to the threefold etymology of the word Ayana).
Āchārya abhimānamē uddhārakam (God’s/Savior’s freegrace is the ultimate means for liberation) is the quintessence of Vedānta, the eternal/universal spiritual system that is the preeminent foundation for Hinduism. The movement for worldwide propagation of this quintessence was inaugurated by Yogi Parthasarathy Aiyangar, a Srivaishnava Acharya in the article read out at Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in 1893:
Ramanujacharya is venerated as a saviour, and still more is Krishna [who appeared about 5000 years ago], identical with Rama and an incarnation of God. Faith consists in trusting Him; it has no limits. It is the true method of salvation, for which all other means should be abandoned. He who trusts in the Saviour, simply abandoning himself to Him without effort of his own, will, by God’s free grace, without regard to merit, be led through all stages of progress, from the abandonment of hatred to the service of God and the godly.
Sri Yogi Parthasarathy Iyengar also sent 100 copies of His English translation of Srivachana Bhushanam (“The Good Word Jewel”) which establishes this quintessence of Vedanta, to the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in 1893.
His disciple Sri Alkondavilli Govindacharya Swami continued with this worldwide propagation through the many books and articles that He published which can be found on this site.
Sri Alkondavilli Govindacharya Swamin mentions in the preface to Gitabhashya published in 1898:
Sri Rāmānujāchārya, according to tradition, is no other than Ādi Śesha himself incarnated on earth as one of the Spiritual Saviors of mankind, according to the requirements of time, country and people. The tradition alluded to tells us:—
‘Anantaḥ prathamam rūpam, lakshmaṇaś cha tataḥ param,
Balabhadras tṛitiyas tu kalau kaśchit bhavishyati.’
I.e., He (Ananta or Śesha, the Symbol of Eternity) who became Lakshmaṇa (the brother of Sri Rama in the Treata-age), who became Balabhadra (the brother of Sri Krishna in the Dvāpara-age), became Śri Rāmānuja in the Kali-age.
In the modern times, Srimath Paramahamsa Ithyadi Sri Kaliyan Vanamamalai Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamivaru (30th Pontiff of the venerable Vanamamalai Mutt which is a pre-eminent seat of Srivaishnavam owing to its establishment on the direct orders of Sri Manavala Mamunigal, a reincarnation of Sri Ramanujacharya, by Sri Ponnadikkal Jeeyar, considered the lotus feet of Sri Manavala Mamunigal) has ordered that Acharya abhimana (Savior’s grace) and Acharya nishta (self, oblated to service of Savior) which are the quintessence of Srivaishnavam, be widely propagated across the length and breadth of this planet.
This site is a small step in the direction of fulfilling His orders and all of the pure content on this site is a result of the unlimited mercy of Paramahamsa ithyadi Sri Kaliyan Vanamamalai Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami.
